IPL auction: RCB snub RTM for Glenn Maxwell, Australia star returns to PBKS

In another shocking move from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, the franchise has let go of their star player Glenn Maxwell in the IPL 2025 mega auction being held at Jeddah on November 24, Sunday. Maxwell had a home-coming of sorts as he was sold to Punjab Kings at a price of Rs 4.25 crore. RCB had the option of Right to Match, which they could have used to have Maxwell back in the team. However, the franchise opted not to use the RTM for Maxwell, despite having three of those in their bank.
RCB’s auction strategy seemed puzzling as they did not bid intensely for many star players that were available in the auction pool.
