‘Emotional’ Virat Kohli may struggle if he gets a couple of low scores: McGrath
Legendary pacer Glenn McGrath feels that Virat Kohli could end up struggling in Australia if he gets a few scores to start the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series. McGrath also claimed that Kohli is an emotional player, who does struggle a bit if he is down a bit.
Kohli hasn’t had the best of times in the longest format of the game this year as he struggled in the series against New Zealand. The star batter scored less than 100 runs in the series loss to the Blackcaps and has an average of 22.72 in 6 matches this year. Speaking to CODE Sports’ Daniel Cherny, McGrath said that if Australia does go hard at Kohli and if the star batter is able to fight with his emotions, then he could get a lift of sorts.
However, the legendary pacer said Kohli could feel the pressure if his start isn’t great.
“If they go hard at him, if he gets in the fight with emotions, there’s a bit of chat out there, who knows he might sort of lift,” McGrath added.
“But I think he’s probably under pressure a little bit, and if he has a couple of low scores to start with, he could really feel it.
“I think he’s quite an emotional player. When he’s up, he’s up, and when he’s down, he sort of struggles a little bit.”

Put the pressure on India
India come into the BGT tour on the back of a home series loss to New Zealand and with a lot of noise surrounding them. McGrath feels that Australia has enough ammunition to back themselves in the series against India and said they should put the pressure on the visitors and see if they will be up for the task in the series.
“Without a doubt, especially after coming off a 3-0 loss against New Zealand, you’ve got plenty of ammunition to back yourself up,” McGrath told CODE Sports’ Daniel Cherny.
“So put the pressure on them and see if they’re up for it.”
India and Australia will start the BGT series on November 22 with the first Test in Perth.
