Virat Kohli is not gelling with captain Rohit and coach Gambhir: Brendon Julian
Former Australia cricketer Brendon Julian has made a shocking statement regarding the Indian dressing room saying that Virat Kohli is not gelling with captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir. Notably, India are about to take on Australia in a five-match Test series beginning from November 22 in Perth.
Heading into the series, India need their star batter Virat Kohli in top form as he has a prolific record in Australia. However, Kohli has looked like a pale shadow of himself in the recent series against New Zealand where he managed to score just 93 runs from three matches. Recently, Brendon Julian shared his thoughts on Kohli’s form and said that the batter hasn’t been at his best lately and is probably not gelling well with the coach.
“The way that Virat Kohli got out against New Zealand – for him to get out like that in that Test series was unbelievable. Kohli is not at his best. He is not gelling with the captain probably and the coach but having said that, he can quickly turn it around. But if they start pulling in Perth, I reckon it’ll be all over. The thing with Virat Kohli is that I think he would rather bat in Australia. The way he batted against New Zealand in India, he was getting out to spinners. The nemesis for him would be Nathan Lyon,” said Julian on Fox Sports.
The Aussies will clean up India in 4 days: Brendon Julian
Further speaking ahead, Julian said that Australia will beat India inside four days as the Rohit Sharma-led side has several worrying signs ahead of the series opener with their captain being unavailable.
“The Aussies will clean up India in 4 days. There are worrying signs for India, straight at the top. Rohit Sharma is not playing the first Test; he has come out and said that. So Jasprit Bumrah will captain the side. Now that’s a lot of pressure when you’re the opening bowler. He is a wonderful bowler; no doubt about that. But all of a sudden when you’re opening the bowling and captaining the side, that’s a whole different ball game,” he added.
Notably, India captain Rohit Sharma is unlikely to feature in the first Test due to personal reasons. It has been widely reported that the India skipper is expecting his second child with wife Ritika Sajdeh. However, Rohit is continuously practicing in India to keep himself ready for the series. In his absence, vice captain Jasprit Bumrah is set to lead the team having captained the side once in July, 2022 vs England.
