Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé opened up about his challenging start with his dream club, admitting that the transition has been far from smooth. However, the French superstar reiterated his determination to bounce back and chase his ultimate goal of winning the UEFA Champions League with Los Blancos.

After years of speculation and prolonged transfer sagas, Mbappé’s arrival at the Santiago Bernabéu this season was expected to usher in a new era for the Spanish giants. Yet, his performances so far have sparked mixed reactions. Speaking to Clique TV, Mbappe expressed his confidence in turning things around and helping Real Madrid achieve glory.

“Which top trophy is left for me? The Champions League, that’s why I’m at the best club…I want to win the UCL! I want it, I wanna win it at Real Madrid,” Mbappe told Clique TV.

“I’m going to have success here. At first I was too hungry, it wasn’t good for me, because I was impatient. But I’m passionate and I’m competitive. Sometimes that goes against me…”It hasn’t been the best start to the season, but we’re preparing for trophies, which is what counts,” he added.

Statistically, Mbappe’s start has been decent, with 11 goals in 21 appearances across all competitions. However, for a player often hailed as a generational talent, these numbers fall short of the immense expectations. His struggles are linked to adapting to Real Madrid’s tactical style under Carlo Ancelotti, which has limited his usual free-flowing game.

Critics have particularly pointed to underwhelming displays against top sides like Liverpool, FC Barcelona, and Athletic Club, which overshadowed moments of brilliance like his recent goal against Girona. The scrutiny has only intensified, with many questioning whether the Mbappé-Real Madrid partnership can truly deliver the dominance fans envisioned.

While acknowledging the rough start, Mbappe remains optimistic. He believes the challenges are a necessary phase of growth in his journey with the club. Real Madrid, too, will need to refine their approach to maximise the potential of their star signing. The first major test of this budding partnership comes on December 11, when Real Madrid face Atalanta in a crucial UEFA Champions League clash. For Mbappe, the match offers an opportunity to silence critics and reaffirm his ambitions of leading Real Madrid to European glory.

With the stakes high and expectations immense, both Mbappé and Real Madrid will need to rise to the occasion. The road to Champions League success is daunting, but the Frenchman’s determination suggests he is ready to rewrite the narrative.
