Mohammed Siraj vs Travis Head continues: More boos for pacer, Aussie star wildly celebrates catch

There is no toning down to the ongoing battle between Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj in the Border Gavaskar Trophy series. It all started on Day 2 of the 2nd Test at Adelaide Oval, when Siraj gave an aggressive send-off to Head after dismissing him. Day 3 witnessed Head taking Siraj’s catch and celebrating aggressively. Jasprit Bumrah and Siraj were batting after India lost 9 wickets for 166 runs. While facing Scott Boland, Siraj stepped to the leg side, cleared his front leg for a big swing across the line. The bat twisted at the moment of contact and was not well-timed.

The delivery ballooned high into the air and the ‘crowd -favourite’ Travis Head back-pedalled from mid-wicket to take an excellent catch. He punched in the air after taking Siraj’s catch and showed the pink ball to the crowd. With the catch, Australia also managed to bundle India out for 175 runs in the 2nd innings. The fierce battle between Siraj and Head was the highlight of the 2nd Test. After a fiery exchange on Day 2, Siraj walked out to bat while facing boos from a hostile Adelaide crowd.

However, Siraj and Head were spotted chatting in between the overs and settled things down. The duo took out time to clarify and get things sorted between each other. Even after the Test match ended, Head and Siraj hugged it out.

Travis Head scored a magnificent hundred in front of his home crowd on Day 2. His 140-run knock put India on the backfoot, but the Aussie star was knocked over by Siraj. The Indian pacer gave him an aggressive send-off and things got heated up when Head abused him back.

Speaking to the broadcasters after the day 2’s play, Head said he told Siraj that he had bowled well, and the Indian pacer misinterpreted it. The Australian batter said he was slightly disappointed with how things transpired. Head concluded by saying that if the Indian team wants to act in such a fashion, then so be it.

Siraj claimed that Head was lying when the Australian asserted that all he said was “well-bowled” to the bowler. Siraj insisted that the Indian team respects every player, and he did not engage in an aggressive celebration in the first place. The pacer said that it was Head who abused him and that triggered him to give an aggressive send-off.
