Mitchell Starc reveals plan behind Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 1st ball Adelaide wicket

Mitchell Starc has revealed the simple plan behind dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for a duck off the first ball of the pink-ball Test in Adelaide on Friday, December 6. Starc was given the job to bowl the first over and he was right on the money with the very first ball as the young opener was sent back to the pavilion.
That would set the tone for the pacer for Day 1 of the match, as he ended up getting 6 wickets for 48 runs, his best figures in Tests. India were bundled out for just 180 runs in the end. Speaking after the day’s play, Starc revealed that his plan was to aim for the stumps and ensure he hit the pads of Jaiswal.

“At the stumps, hit the pads. That’s it. Nothing special,” said Starc.
Starc also gave an insight into his mantra while bowling the first over. The pacer said that his role has been to attack the stumps early on and get wickets.
“That’s been my role for a while: to attack the stumps and try and make early inroads. Pleased to sneak one past today. We know how important it is to make early inroads into this batting lineup,” said Starc.
“It’s always a nice way to start. It is a big Test match, it’s a big series.”
Starc would also praise Nathan McSweeney and Marnus Labuschagne for seeing off a tough 3rd session with the pink ball and ensuring that Australia only lost one wicket on Friday.
“It’s a good way to finish the day. A good day all out. But inarguably, the hardest time to bat is that third session with the brand new pink ball. So, to finish the day one down, particularly from Marn and McSweeney, to fight through sustained pressure from a quality bowling attack and to come out the other end,” said Starc.
“We have a chance to go on tomorrow, it was fantastic from them. Obviously, a fair bit of outside noise. Very pleased for them.”
Australia ended the day trailing India by 94 runs.
