India’s young cricketing sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi was dismissed cheaply on his first outing after bagging an INR 1.10 crore deal at the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) mega auction. The 13-year-old created history at the bidding event becoming the youngest player ever to be sold at the auction.
However, he didn’t have memorable outing in his first appearance on the pitch after securing an IPL contract getting dismissed for just 1 (9) against Pakistan during the Under 19 Asia Cup game in Dubai. The 13-year-old was dismissed for just 1 (9) by Ali Raza as he looked restless at the crease.
During his nine-ball stay, Suryavanshi looked desperate to get going as he played and missed at a few deliveries before eventually losing his wicket. Following his dismissal, India were left reeling at 28/2 in 4.1 overs chasing a massive target of 282 in their opening match of the tournament.
Notably, Suryavanshi etched his name in the history books as he was bought for a whopping INR 1.10 crore by Rajasthan Royals (RR) after an intense bidding war with Delhi Capitals (DC). He recently hit the fastest hundred by an Indian in Under-19 Tests, achieving the milestone against the Australia Under-19 team at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai in October. The right-handed batter reached the magical three-figure mark in just 58 balls in his maiden red-ball match for the India Under-19 team.
Suryavanshi made his first class debut in January 2024
Earlier this year, Suryavanshi also became the fourth-youngest Indian to make his debut in a recorded first-class match at the age of 12 years and 284 days. The child prodigy stepped out to play for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy 2023-24 game against Mumbai at the Moin-ul-Haq Stadium in Patna.
Meanwhile, Pakistan posted 281/7 in their allotted 50 overs as Shahzaib Khan (159 off 147) scored a massive hundred. Usman Khan also made a valuable contribution of 60 (94). Samarth Nagaraj was the pick of the bowlers for India with figures of 3/45 in ten overs.
