Scott Boland dismisses panic in Australia change room: It’s not toys out of the cot

Scott Boland said that Australia haven’t pressed the panic button after losing the opening Test against India at the Perth Stadium. The speedster is most likely to play in the Day-Night match at the Adelaide Oval after Josh Hazlewood was ruled out of the game due to a side strain.

Australia had won all their four Tests at the Optus Stadium before Jasprit Bumrah’s men handed them their first defeat at the Optus Stadium. But Boland, who has 35 wickets from 10 Tests, said that’s nothing to worry about after only a solitary defeat.

“There’s definitely not panic stations in our change rooms. There’s obviously going to be some chats around individual performances and everyone wants to perform really well every game they play. But yeah, it’s like, we’ve lost one game. It’s not toys out of the cot, I don’t think,” Boland said on Saturday.

Boland said that Australia have plans for Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul, who both played crucial knocks in the Perth Test.

“We’ve spoken as a team about our plans for all the different Indian batters. I won’t tell you those, but we’ve got pretty set plans. They might have a little bit of a tweak after the guys have seen them again from Perth, because obviously [Yashasvi] Jaiswal batted really well there. KL Rahul batted well in the second dig as well and really digged in. So we’ll probably have a chat over the next week and our plans might slightly change, but I’m pretty confident what we did in the first games was good,” Boland added.

Australia have an excellent record in Day-Night Tests, having won 11 out of 12 matches since 2015. After winning 11 matches in a row, they lost to West Indies by eight runs earlier this year at The Gabba in Brisbane. The Aussies have a 7-0 record in pink-ball Tests at the Adelaide Oval.
