After a much-publicised exit from Lucknow Super Giants, KL Rahul is all set to lead Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. The former finalists made a smart buy in the IPL mega auction in Jeddah on Sunday, November 24, buying the experienced wicketkeeper-batter for Rs 14 crore.

It seems Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants swapped their captains as Rishabh Pant went to LSG for a record-breaking price of Rs 27 crore. Pant became the costliest player in the history of IPL auction, going past Shreyas Iyer’s bid of Rs 26.75 corer from Punjab Kings.

IPL Auction Live Updates

Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru entered the bidding race first. Chennai Super KIngs also entered the fray and competed hard with Delhi after RCB pulled out at Rs 10.50 crore.

RCB had hinted about bringing back their hometown hero, but they were not willing to go beyond the Rs 11 crore mark.

Rishabh Pant became the most expensive player in the history of the IPL auction after he was sold to LSG for Rs 27 crore. Shreyas Iyer also triggered a massive bidding war.

KL Rahul was expected to be sold for excess of Rs 20 crore, but the star batter did not trigger a war of sorts.
